Early Morning – Meet Your Guide & Driver – Early Departure to Petra

Your private guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel at 6:00 AM for the journey south.
The drive from Amman to Petra is approximately 230–235 km and takes about 3 hours via the modern Desert Highway. Travel in comfort with your dedicated guide and driver in a private Premium Business Class Van, relaxing as you pass through the changing landscapes of Jordan, from rolling hills to the rugged mountains of the south.
Morning – Arrival & Exploring the Lost City with Your Guide
You will arrive in Wadi Musa (the town adjacent to Petra) around 9:00 AM and proceed to the Petra Visitor Center. Arriving early allows you to experience Petra at its most magical, with soft morning light, cool temperatures, and far fewer crowds.
The full Petra experience involves a considerable amount of walking.
Your guide will accompany you into the site, leading you through Petra's wonders while describing how the Nabateans sculpted the buildings and providing historical context and insights at every significant location.
You will start the visit by walking through the narrow, towering canyon known as The Siq, which is about 1.2 kilometers long and takes roughly 20-30 minutes. Upon emerging from the canyon, your guide will present you with the breathtaking view of the Treasury (Al-Khazneh). The iconic facade reveals itself through the crack in the canyon—one of travel's most unforgettable moments.
From there, your guide will escort you through the ancient city, explaining the significance of each monument:
A full, in-depth exploration of Petra can easily take 6 to 8 hours.
Lunch Break:
Time can be allocated for an optional lunch at one of the local restaurants in Wadi Musa or at the refreshment areas within the Petra site (optional and not included in the tour price). Your guide can assist with recommendations.
Afternoon – Return Journey to Amman
In the afternoon (around 3:00 PM), your guide will lead you back through the site to the Visitor Center exit, allowing approximately 45 minutes to walk back through The Siq.
Your driver will be waiting at the designated meeting point in Wadi Musa to begin the return journey to Amman. This 235-kilometer transfer will take approximately 3 hours. You can rest during the drive or reflect on the day's incredible discoveries. You will be dropped off at your Amman hotel in the evening.
